Live video from Behind the scenes animal enclosure at the Kevin P. Clinton Wildlife Center at Penitentiary Glen camera
As the bobcat is now enjoying his freedom, a fox kit was waiting for her chance to move into this larger enclosure, and she is not alone. An adult fox in our care has become a surrogate mother to the young fox. The adult female fox was brought to us after being removed from a fur and urine farm and we hoped she would naturally take to having a young fox in her presence. It is never a guarantee that unrelated kits will be accepted, so we slowly introduced them, and luckily, they quickly showed positive responses to each other. We moved them to this enclosure, which is off display to the public, so they can have privacy. We have cameras on them 24/7 so we can monitor their behaviors and the kits development and allow the public to enjoy watching them as well. The fox kit will eventually be released to an appropriate habitat.
