Live video from Behind the scenes animal enclosure at the Kevin P. Clinton Wildlife Center at Penitentiary Glen camera

An adult fox in our care has become a surrogate mother to young foxes at the center. The adult female fox was brought to us after being removed from a fur and urine farm and we hoped she would naturally take to having young foxes in her presence. It is never a guarantee that unrelated kits will be accepted, so we slowly introduced them, and luckily, they quickly showed positive responses to each other. We moved them to this enclosure, which is off display to the public, so they can have privacy. We have cameras on them 24/7 so we can monitor their behaviors and the kits development and allow the public to enjoy watching them as well. The fox kits will eventually be released back to the wild in an appropriate habitat. As they grow and are released, new kits will be introduced to the enclosure and to the female fox who will act as their foster mother—an invaluable opportunity for orphaned young kits.
